Frequently Asked Questions

Why different color bags?

Not All Treats Are Meant to Be Fed the Same.

🟢 Green Label — Training Treats

Designed for frequent use, repetition and focus. These are lean, protein-dense bites meant for structured training sessions where timing and motivation matter. Because training treats are used frequently, ingredient simplicity is key — clean protein, no fillers, no unnecessary extras.

Smaller pieces. Lean protein. Ideal for repetition without overfeeding.

These are your everyday rewards — perfect for reinforcing behavior without turning snack time into a calorie overload.

🔵 Blue Label — Moderation

These are meant for engagement and enrichment. Chews support natural chewing behavior, provide mental stimulation, and help satisfy your dog’s instinct to work for food. They are not the same as training rewards — they serve a different purpose.

🔴 Red Label — Intermittent

Use intentionally and in moderation. Organ meats are highly nutrient-dense and meant to complement — not replace — muscle meat in a balanced feeding plan. Offer small amounts and adjust regular meals as needed. Always supervise while feeding.

Are these safe for all dogs?

These treats are made with single-ingredient animal protein and contain no artificial preservatives or fillers. As with any treat, supervise your dog while chewing and introduce slowly if they have known sensitivities.

How Dehydrated Treats Are Made

Lazy Dog Mom treats start with simple, whole ingredients like chicken breast or beef liver. Instead of baking or frying them, the ingredients are slowly dehydrated.

Dehydration works by gently removing moisture from the food over several hours at a controlled temperature. As the water is removed, the food becomes shelf stable while still retaining its natural flavor and nutrients.

This process creates treats that are:

• firm and long lasting

• naturally preserved without additives

• easy to break into smaller pieces for training

Because the treats are dehydrated rather than heavily processed, the ingredient itself is still the star of the product.

Each treat is simply real food with the moisture removed.

Where are your ingredients sourced?

We source whole animal ingredients and prepare everything in small batches. No mystery meats. No by-products.

Select ingredients are sourced from trusted regional ranchers, including suppliers such as Ranch Foods Direct, who prioritize whole-animal integrity and transparent sourcing.

How long do they last?

Lazy Dog Mom treats are gently dehydrated and contain no artificial preservatives. Proper storage helps maintain freshness and texture.

Unopened, treats typically maintain quality for several months when stored in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.

Store in a cool, dry place for up to 30 days

Refrigerate for up to 2–3 months for extended freshness

Freeze for up to 6–12 months for long-term storage

Each bag includes a small oxygen absorber to help maintain freshness. Do not remove the absorber, and do not allow your dog to ingest it.

If treats develop unusual odor, visible moisture, or significant texture changes, discard and replace.

The Lazy Dog Mom Education Library

The Lazy Dog Mom Education Library was created to help dog owners better understand what goes into their dog’s food.

Dog nutrition can feel overwhelming. Between marketing claims, conflicting advice, and complicated ingredient lists, it’s often difficult to know what actually matters.

The goal of the library is to simplify that information.

Instead of focusing on trends or rigid feeding rules, the library breaks down the building blocks of a dog’s diet so owners can understand why certain foods and nutrients are important.

Inside the library you’ll find topics such as:

Back to Basics

Simple explanations of feeding concepts like raw feeding, balanced meals, and common mistakes people make when starting out.

Micronutrient Guides

Breakdowns of essential nutrients such as zinc, copper, iodine, vitamin E, and others that play an important role in a dog’s health.

Ingredient Spotlights

A closer look at foods like liver, heart, eggs, fish, and other whole ingredients that commonly appear in fresh diets.

Practical Feeding Insights

Real-world discussions about common questions dog owners ask when trying to feed their dogs better.

The goal isn’t to make feeding complicated.

It’s to help dog owners feel more confident about the choices they make for their dogs.

Why I Started Lazy Dog Mom

Lazy Dog Mom grew out of a deep dive into dog nutrition that started the same way it does for many dog owners: trying to do better for my own dogs.

The more I researched ingredients, nutrient balance, and feeding approaches, the more I realized how confusing the information can be. Between marketing claims, conflicting advice, and ingredient lists that don’t always tell the full story, it can be hard for dog owners to know what actually matters.

Over time I began studying the role different foods play in a dog’s diet — things like organs, micronutrients, and how different ingredients contribute to overall balance.

That research eventually grew into what Lazy Dog Mom is today: a place focused on education first, helping dog owners understand the why behind what they feed.

Along the way I also began making single-ingredient treats because I wanted treats that followed the same philosophy as the rest of a dog’s diet: simple ingredients that are actually food.

Lazy Dog Mom isn’t about complicated formulas or trendy feeding rules.

It’s about feeding with intention — understanding what goes into your dog’s bowl and why it matters.

How Our Treats Are Made

At Lazy Dog Mom, every treat starts the same way: with real food.

There are no mystery ingredients, flavorings, or fillers. Just simple foods that dogs already love, prepared in a way that preserves their natural flavor and nutrients.

1. Start With Real Ingredients

Each batch begins with a single ingredient such as chicken breast, beef liver, or other whole foods. These are the same types of ingredients many people already include in fresh or raw diets for their dogs.

2. Hand Prepared

Ingredients are trimmed and sliced by hand to create pieces that are the right size for training, chewing, or occasional nutrient-rich treats.

Because every ingredient is slightly different, working in small batches allows the process to stay consistent and intentional.

3. Slowly Dehydrated

The treats are gently dehydrated over several hours. This process removes moisture while preserving the natural flavor and nutritional value of the ingredient.

No preservatives or additives are needed — dehydration itself helps maintain freshness.

4. Cooled and Inspected

Once the dehydration process is complete, the treats are allowed to cool fully before being checked for quality and consistency.

Only the pieces that meet the expected texture and dryness make it into the final bag.

5. Packaged in Small Batches

The finished treats are packaged in small batches to maintain freshness and quality.

Each bag contains exactly what the label says it does:

one ingredient and nothing else.

The Goal

The goal isn’t to create complicated treats.

It’s to create simple foods that fit into a thoughtful feeding approach — whether you feed raw, fresh, or simply want treats that don’t undo the effort you put into your dog’s meals.
